Wokingham candidates

2022 Wokingham candidates:

All Green councillors and candidates are working for a fairer, greener, more affordable town. Vote Green on Thursday 5 May. The Wokingham Green Party mini manifesto for 2022 is here.

Bulmershe & Whitegates Ward: Samuel Langlois

I’ve lived in the ward since 2012, when my wife and I got tired of living in the Parisian suburb, and decided to try living abroad. We have never regretted this decision, and thoroughly enjoyed living here with our children. One is now studying at the University of Portsmouth, and the 2 others are at The Bulmershe School.

I’ve worked in software, especially in startups in Reading, and I am very happy with my 10-minute bicycle commute! I’m a keen cyclist, and we’ve been living without a car for a year. If elected, I will campaign to reduce the place of cars in the public space, and promote the use of walking, cycling or public transports.
I will also protect and improve the green space, and support our amazing local, independent businesses. We all have a role to play to fight climate change, but this is also simply to improve the life of people in the borough!

Coronation Ward candidate: Emma-Louise Hamilton

Emma-Louise Hamilton has lived in Woodley for 16 years and has taught in local secondary schools. She enjoys reading, cycling and exploring the local area with her children.

Emmbrook Ward candidate: Lauren Seymour

I have lived in Wokingham all my life and feel passionate about the need to make it a fairer, greener and more affordable town.

If elected I would look to protect our wildlife and green spaces, tackle the growing levels of poverty that residents are facing, and campaign for more much-needed affordable and social housing.

Vote Green on 5th May!

Evendons Ward candidate: Hayley Kearey

I have lived in Reading, West Berkshire and now Wokingham. My work requires me to receive, organise and act on feedback which would help me if I were elected for the role. In a broader sense my own goals are to contribute and aim towards a safe future that is fair for everybody.

If elected I would consider the wants and needs of ward members in alignment with the best outcome for all, including addressing climate and environmental concerns, safer public and cycling routes.

Finchampstead North Ward candidate: Martyn Foss

Martyn Foss has lived in Finchampstead North for over 30 years working as a teacher, university teacher trainer, education consultant and Eco Schools volunteer assessor. Before covid I was in the process of trying to assist WBC and Finchampstead Parish with becoming more sustainable and I hope to revitalise this soon.

All Green councillors and candidates are working for a fairer, greener, more affordable town. Vote Green on Thursday 5 May.

Norreys Ward candidate: David Chapman

I have lived in Wokingham since 1990. I have worked in the Berkshire / Surrey areas as a social worker, working with children and families, since the 1970s.

My children have all attended the local schools and after university two have returned to live in the heart of Wokingham putting down roots for themselves and their children. I love Wokingham and its many vibrant communities of interests and geography.

Development has been excessive and not met the needs of many of the existing population, whilst it has destroyed much of the rural nature of the area, particularly in the southern parishes, to their detriment, and gone forever.

If elected I would want to ensure that all local policies are measured in the light of climate and social justice, including health, education, children and adult care, and the environment.

Remenham, Wargrave & Ruscombe Ward candidate: Merv Boniface

I have lived In Twyford for the past 34 years. I studied at Reading University and taught in local Berkshire Secondary Schools with the majority as Deputy Head at The Bulmershe School, Woodley.

I was a Twyford Parish Councillor for eight years and Chairman of the local Council fete. Mostly served on Planning and have stood for election as a preferred candidate for a rival political party.

Environmental principles have always been important to me and my move to the Greens was so much overdue. The principles of the Green Party totally support my active involvement in fighting any building on the Green Belt and resisting the false promises of profit driven developers. This in particular refers to Ruscombe.

Otherwise my interests include daily cycling, Pilates, golf, dog walking, and my boat on the coast. Always passionate about cricket and 40 years involved at Hurst CC. My season ticket at Southampton FC is my weakness.

Swallowfield Ward candidate: Tom Blomley

I was born and grew up in Farley Hill and moved back to the parish in 2008 after working 20 years in Africa in international development work. I am passionate about environment and climate issues and have been active in Swallowfield in support of helping set up a community orchard in Riseley and supporting broader conservation initiatives.

If elected, I aim to work towards better public transport, improve cycling infrastructure, support greater tree planting across the borough and help the most vulnerable with the cost of living crisis.

Wokingham Without Ward candidates: Danielle Ebbage

I have lived in and around Wokingham for most of my life. I briefly moved away for university, and came back at the earliest chance, as I love the green space and friendly community. I am standing for election, because I want to protect the natural green spaces we have around Wokingham Borough, and protect them from over development, alongside increasing our options for greener transport methods. Our local area has patchy public transport links, with some of the surrounding areas requiring personal modes of transport. I would like to encourage better public transport links, increasing the methods of greener transport around the borough. For areas where personal transport is required, we suffer from many potholes and lacking footpaths to enable safe routes.
