Money secured for Katesgrove Lane underpass

This Katesgrove ‘grot spot’ will finally be spruced up.

Katesgrove Community Association (KCA) has worked with local Green councillors to successfully bid for funding from Reading Council to improve the Katesgrove Lane IDR underpass.

Councillor Louise Keane said: “This underpass suffers from graffiti, broken lights and antisocial behaviour. Together we have secured £100,000 from the council to improve this grot spot.”

Christine Lalley from Katesgrove Community Association said: “The underpass is very well used by pedestrians and cyclists. The mural on the sides has artwork which was done by local children but it has not stood the test of time and has been defaced by graffiti. KCA has worked hard to get funding to revamp the underpass. We have started discussions with Reading Borough Council and look forward to progressing this project. We want to make this a more welcoming entrance to Katesgrove.”
