Hi

A big thank you to everyone who voted for the Green Party at the council elections yesterday. We are now in a stronger position as the main opposition party on Reading Council. We will keep working hard all year round for a fairer, greener and cleaner town. Key results are:

Park Ward – Councillor Josh Williams re-elected

Katesgrove Ward – Councillor Doug Cresswell re-elected

If you are not already a member why not join the Green Party and help us make a difference? http://greenparty.org.uk/join

The new composition of Reading Council is:

Labour – 32 councillors

Green – 7 councillors

Conservative – 5 councillors

LibDem – 3 councillors

Independent – 1 councillorThe Green Party lead over the Conservatives has increased from one councillor up to two councillors. We have consolidated our position as the main opposition party on Reading Council.

Across the country the Green Party is predicted to make over 100 gains.

Commiserations to all of the Green Party candidates who were not successful, in particular to Kate Nikulina in Redlands Ward who worked hard over the year and came very close to being elected. Well done to Mike Harling in Thames Ward. And well done to Merv in Wokingham who came in a respectable second place in Sonning ward.

Once again thanks for your support and let us know if we can help.

Best wishes

Rob

PS remember that if you want to see a fairer, greener and cleaner town then please consider joining the Green Party http://greenparty.org.uk/join
