Reading Green councillors have written to the council leader asking for walking and cycling improvements to keep people safe while getting about.
Jamie Whitham, Green councillor for Redlands, who is on the Transport committee said: “At the moment more people are walking and cycling including families with children for exercise.
“Also many people including key workers and shoppers who would otherwise use public transport are cycling or walking to work or shop.
“Reading Council should take this opportunity to fast track walking and cycling improvements such as 20 mph zones, segregated cycle lanes, improved pedestrian crossing response times and fixing more potholes in cycle lanes and footpaths.
Jamie added: “As the lockdown is lifted it is important to ensure the safety of people travelling by foot and bike.”
Following this Green action, the council has published some quick win and longer term walking and cycling plans.
