Boosting the town's recycling

3 February 2020

Kathryn McCann at the bins! Well, a bin. The red one.

The average UK recycling rate is a low 45%. Labour-run Reading council are on a very poor 32%. Church ward campaigner Kathryn McCann said: "Following lobbying from Greens such as Cllr Rob White, the council is finally, slowly starting to act on food waste. We're also lobbying for a glass collection.

"Until then, we can re-use! Locally, 40 tonnes of landfill were saved by www.ilovefreegle.org, and there are shops like Age UK on Whitley Street and Christian Community Action furniture on Northumberland Avenue."
