Reading Labour’s plans to sell Arthur Hill swimming pool have collapsed and the Council is now reviewing options for the future of the site. Greens urge people to sign petition for the council to reconsider opening the pool and consult the public on this.
Jamie Whitham, newly elected Green Party councillor for Redlands Ward said: “Greens have long campaigned with the community to save Arthur Hill swimming pool. Since this swimming pool was closed there has been no public pool in East Reading. The failure of Reading’s Labour Council to sell the swimming pool provides a fantastic opportunity to reconsider the possibility of refurbishing our lovely pool and reopening it for public swimming.”
David McElroy, Green Party campaigner for Redlands Ward said: “Please sign the petition calling on the Council to include the possibility of reopening Arthur Hill for swimming in its options review and consult the public on this.”
