Rough sleepers in Reading up from just 4 to a shocking 31 between 2013 and 2018.
David McElroy said: "Every time I walk through the town centre I see more and more people in desperate need. Rough sleeping in Reading and around the country has increased massively, and at the same time the Council has cut the money available to help.
"We’ll keep up the pressure locally and nationally for the Labour Council and Conservative Government to get a grip on this and stop letting our vulnerable residents down. More Green Councillors will mean more pressure for action on rough-sleeping and homelessness."
*Since we initially reported on this issue, the figures for 2018/2019 have come out. The good news is that the number of rough sleepers in Reading has dropped since 2017/2018, however the number is still more than six times that of 2012/2013.
