Campaign update: Reading East

18 May 2017

Kizzi Johannessen

Kizzi Johannessen is the Green Party candidate for Reading East. She is using the springboard of having finished in second place in Redlands Ward at the 2016 local elections to launch her parliamentary campaign where she will be “standing up for what matters”.

Kizzi was born in Reading in 1986 and has lived for most of her life in the town. She is training as a psychotherapist and works with young people, vulnerable people and the LGBT community.

Kizzi has been:

  • Challenging cuts from Labour and the Tories threatening our children’s centres
  • Working with the community, not against it on issues like saving Arthur Hill swimming pool
  • Protecting our Thameside against Labour and Conservative roadbuilding plans
  • Opposing a hard Brexit and campaigning for a referendum on any Brexit deal
  • Standing up for what matters

Commenting on the campaign so far, Green Party MP candidate for Reading East Kizzi Johannessen said: “we have been receiving a positive response on the doorstep in Reading East. People feel let down by the business as usual from Labour and the Tories on issues like the proposed closure of 9 out of 13 of the town’s children’s centres. The Green Party will stand up for what matters and continue to make the case for properly funded public services which will save money in the long term. I urge people to vote for what they believe in.”
