A formal consultation on whether cycling should be allowed along the whole length of Broad Street has started and runs until March 10.
People can have their say by going to www.reading.gov.uk/cyclingconsultation, by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or writing to: C J Brooks, Head of Legal and Democratic Services, Reading Borough Council, Civic Offices, Bridge Street, Reading, RG1 2LU.
The consultation process follows an informal online consultation late last year in which a clear majority of respondents were in favour of allowing cycling in Broad Street. As a result, the Council’s Traffic Management Committee has agreed a formal statutory consultation which proposes allowing cycling for whole length of Broad Street.
Green councillor Jamie Whitham said: “Reading doesn’t have a cycle network just a series of fragments of cycling structure. Allowing cycling along the full length of Broad Street will join up more of the network. I urge people to respond to the consultation.”
